Gestern hat Google zum Wochenende mal wieder einen kleinen Kauf getätigt, der bisher für mich etwas unverständlich ist, weil er wahrscheinlich eher nur für die Nutzer von Mac OS und iOS interessant ist. Denn Google hat sich das Entwicklerteam von Sparrow gekauft, ein sehr bekannter und beliebter eMail-Client für eben Mac OS und iOS. Intergriert wird das Team von Sparrow natürlich in das Google Mail-Team, der Support für die Apps wird vorerst weiter geleistet, allerdings eventuell auch bald eingestellt. Welche Pläne Google hier verfolgt, kann ich mir persönlich nur schwer ausmalen, möglicherweise möchte man einfach nur die eigenen Google Mail-Apps für fremde Plattformen von Apple spürbar verbessern.
